Ken Balch

New Executive Pastor Rev. Ken Balch!

Ken & Sally Balch met and married after graduating from Eastern Nazarene College together. They both grew up on the south shore in Massachusetts. Sally is a social worker who’s worked with a wide variety of populations including seniors, teenage mothers, the homeless, as an adoption social worker, and with disabled adults. Ken has served as an associate pastor, a children’s pastor, in compassionate ministries with homeless families and individuals, and as a senior pastor of two different churches. Most recently, for nearly 2 decades, he has been on district staff with the Mid-Atlantic District Church of the Nazarene, as the Missional Leadership Specialist support staff to District Superintendent Dr. Ken Mills. Ken & Sally have 2 children, their tallest offspring is an artist living in Seattle Washington and their blondest offspring works in social services in Mesa, Arizona. We are excited to welcome Ken and Sally to our First Light South Portland Church community. Their leadership and gifts will be mightily used by God in our church and community!
